چکیده

a o i t l i a s [ M A 46 year-old woman was admitted for right hypochondriac pain. Reported antecedents included obesity and non insulin-dependent diabetes. She did not consume alcohol. Clinical examination showed no abnormality. Laboratory results, including hepatic tests and FP, were normal. Ultrasound revealed multiple hypoechoic hepatic nodules. On CT those nodules appeared with contrast enhancement during the arterial phase but did not wash out during the late phase (Fig. 1A and B). On MRI they were well delineated, homogeneous, without mass effect and enhancement was similar to that revealed on the CT. The opposed-phase sequence showed hepatic parenchyma with diffuse low signal intensity compared to the in-phase sequence (Fig. 2A and B). No other lesion was found. Biopsies were performed (Fig. 3). Anatomopathological examination showed microand macrovesicular steatosis with hepatocytic distension and lymphocytic infiltration to the right, and normal hepatic parenchyma to the left. Neither fibrosis nor tumor cells were present. Those data, combined with the patient’s history of

Multinodular fatty liver after herpes-zoster vaccine: case report and review of the literature.

Multinodular fatty liver (MNFL) is a pattern of fatty infiltration of the liver characterized by multiple well-circumscribed nodules on hepatic imaging, often raising the concern of metastatic malignancy. Here we describe a case of MNFL and review the published literature. There is likely some association between traditional risk factors for hepatic steatosis (e.g. alcohol, rapid weight change,...

Comparison of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography with grey-scale ultrasonography and contrast-enhanced computed tomography in diagnosing focal fatty liver infiltrations and focal fatty sparing.

PURPOSE Fatty liver infiltrations and fatty sparing impair diagnostic performance of grey-scale ultrasonography in differentiating malignant and benign focal liver lesions. In the study, we present our experience in diagnosing focal fatty liver infiltrations and focal fatty sparing with contrastenhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) in comparison to grey-scale ultrasonography and contrast-enhanced com...

Imaging patterns of fatty liver in pediatric patients.

Fatty liver can present as focal, diffuse, heterogeneous, and multinodular forms. Being familiar with various patterns of steatosis can enable correct diagnosis. In patients with equivocal findings on ultrasonography, magnetic resonance imaging can be used as a problem solving tool. New techniques are promising for diagnosis and follow-up. We review imaging patterns of steatosis and new quantit...

Different forms of iron accumulation in the liver on MRI.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a well-established imaging modality to evaluate increased iron deposition in the liver. Both standard liver imaging series with in-phase and out-of-phase T1-weighted sequences for visual detection, as well as advanced T2- and T2*-weighted measurements may be used for mapping the iron concentration. In this article, we describe different forms of liver iron ac...

Fatty liver deposition and sparing: a pictorial review

OBJECTIVE: Fatty liver deposition is a very common finding, but it has many atypical patterns of distribution that can represent diagnostic pitfalls. The purpose of this pictorial essay is to review different patterns of fatty liver deposition and sparing. METHODS: We searched our archive retrospectively, reviewed the literature, and identified six patterns of liver steatosis. RESULTS: Steato...
